Master of Applied Science (MASc)

The Master of Applied Science (MASc) program is oriented toward a career in research. All MASc students carry out a thesis which reports the findings of research conducted by the student. The MASc program is the most appropriate masters level program for those students who intend to pursue a doctoral degree.

As an MASc student, you'll receive guaranteed base support funding for up to two years of study. Current graduate scholarship funding tables can be viewed here.

Exceptional students can fast-track into the PhD program.

Admission Requirements

A Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) in engineering or Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) with a minimum average of B+ (78%+) over the final two years of an undergraduate program from an accredited institution.

Program Requirements & Time for Completion

The program of study normally includes 2.0 FCE (four half-courses), including the weekly Graduate Research Seminar, the Graduate Ethics Seminar, and a thesis.

The required thesis is based upon research work carried out in the Department. The thesis must be presented at an oral examination.

MASc candidates typically take between one to three years to complete the requirements of the degree (six sessions). Only full-time study is available.
