The Walter Curlook Materials Characterization & Processing Laboratory was established through a generous gift by alumnus Dr. Walter Curlook (MMS 5T0, MASc 5T1, PhD 5T3), a distinguished adjunct professor and former president of Inco Metals Company.
Complemented by sample preparation equipment, this lab serves students and faculty with their learning and research needs, as well as external academia and industry users seeking access to the advanced characterization facilities. The laboratory houses:
- X-Ray Diffractometers (MiniFlex 600, D8 DISCOVER Plus)
- Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometry (ICP–OES)
- Thermogravimetric analysis / Differential thermal analysis / Differential scanning calorimetry (TGA–DTA–DSC) Analyzer
- Laser Particle Size Analyzer
