Since its inception in 2001, the UT² workshop has united top researchers from the University of Toronto and the University of Tokyo, fostering collaborations and facilitating scientific exchange. This esteemed partnership has recently expanded to include McMaster University, leading to the formation of the UT²-Mac Workshop.

This spring, the fifth UT²-Mac (22nd UT²) Student Workshop was held in Canada, with McMaster University hosting the event on May 14-15, followed by the University of Toronto on May 16-17. The event continued the tradition of alternating annual meetings between Toronto and Tokyo.

The “History of UT²” session featured distinguished representatives from the Consulate-General of Japan, the International Engagement Office, and the Dean of Engineering at U of T. These key stakeholders underscored the significance of international collaboration in advancing engineering research and education.

Under the theme “Engineering for a Better Tomorrow,” the workshop showcased over 50 presentations and 17 posters. Topics spanned a wide range of fields, including Materials Engineering, Nuclear Engineering and Management, Bioengineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Aeronautics and Astronautics. This gathering provided a vibrant platform for sharing innovative research and strengthening international academic partnerships.
