Seeking Solutions to Electronic Waste: Prof. Gisele Azimi Featured on CBC News

Prof. Gisele Azimi was one of the U of T researchers featured in CBC News on Dec 24, 2020.

“Our new green extraction process for covering rare earth elements and other strategic materials from e-waste using supercritical CO2″, said Prof. Azimi. “This process is cheap, rapid, consumes low energy and chemical reagents and generate little to no waste. The CO2 can be taken from the air thus it is cheap, safe, abundant, and can be vented to the environment or recycled back.”
