On Friday, April 4, the Materials Science & Engineering community came together to celebrate something truly special—our shared home, Wallberg. In a vibrant and joyful display of spirit and connection, the MSE Club hosted Home Is Wallberg Day, a growing annual tradition that continues to capture the heart of the department.
While this wasn’t the first time the celebration took place, this year’s event saw the biggest turnout yet and marked an exciting milestone: the first-ever collaboration with the Chemical Engineering student community. The combined energy of MSE Club and Chem Club created a dynamic, welcoming atmosphere that filled the building from morning until late afternoon.
Students and faculty participated in a building-wide Easter egg hunt, sparking laughter and friendly competition throughout the day. Both MSE and Chemical Engineering common rooms (WB143 and WB238) became hubs for merchandise sales, where students picked up department swag and connected over shared pride in their programs.
The festivities didn’t stop there—attendees enjoyed free food and games, adding a festive and welcoming energy to the building. One of the highlights of the day was the merch design contest, where students submitted creative ideas for next year’s official MSE Club gear. The imagination and passion on display were a testament to our vibrant student community.
The celebration concluded with a warm and delicious potluck in the Chem common room, where students, staff, and faculty gathered to share food, stories, and smiles.
Home Is Wallberg Day continues to grow in spirit and scale. It’s a reminder that Wallberg is more than just a building—it’s a place where friendships are built, ideas take shape, and memories are made. Huge thanks to the MSE Club for organizing this incredible event and to Chem Club for their enthusiastic partnership.
We’re already looking forward to next year’s celebration!
