Dr. Abu Anand is the co-founder and Chief Science Officer of Phaseshift Technologies, a Toronto based advanced materials development startup dedicated to accelerating the development and adoption of new materials critical to a sustainable future. Dr. Anand completed his PhD in Materials Science from the Dept. of Materials Science and Engineering under the supervision of Prof. Chandra Veer Singh. In his PhD Dr. Anand studied the mechanical behavior of complex alloy systems using atomistic simulations. He has won a number of awards for his research, including Best Presentation at the Canadian Materials Science Conference and several fellowships from the Dept. of MSE, such as the Atsumi Ohno Fellowship, the Centennial Scholarship, and the Brij-Pushpa Seth Scholarship. Dr. Anand was deeply involved in the academic community during his time at the University of Toronto. He has an extensive teaching record and mentored several undergraduate students through their thesis projects. Additionally, he was an active participant in MSE GSA activities. Dr. Anand received his Bachelor of Science (Research) and Master of Science degrees in Materials Science from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
