On Saturday, March 29th, the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering opened its doors to hundreds of prospective students and their families during the annual March Open House. The event offered an exciting opportunity for visitors to explore academic programs, attend information sessions, and experience the energy of U of T Engineering firsthand.
The Department of Materials Science & Engineering (MSE) was proudly represented at the program fair in the Myhal Centre lobby. Our booth featured hands-on materials and engaging displays, including a hockey stick, 3D printed components, a hip implant, and anti-reflective glass—all illustrating the real-world applications and innovations that materials engineers make possible.
The booth was run by a team of dedicated undergraduate student volunteers, who enthusiastically shared their experiences in the program and answered questions from prospective students and their families. Their energy and insights helped bring the MSE student experience to life.
Faculty members were also present throughout the day, including Professor Dai-Hattrick, who led an informative presentation about the MSE program. We were also honoured to be joined by Department Chair, Professor Hani Naguib, and Professor Hattrick Simpers, both of whom engaged with guests and shared their perspectives on the future of materials engineering.
Thank you to our faculty, students, and staff for making the day a warm and inspiring introduction to the world of MSE!
