The MSE department launched its first Summer Research Program this year, led by Prof. Huang and developed in collaboration with Prof. Matsuura. The program supports undergraduate researchers in MSE and Biomaterials Manufacturing Cluster (BioMC) through biweekly Lunch-and-Learn sessions and a final student showcase.
The program kicked off on May 28 with a talk by MSE Chair, Prof. Naguib, who introduced his research on programmable, stimuli-responsive, and smart adaptive materials. He discussed sustainable manufacturing techniques and their applications in energy, environment, and healthcare, including his lab’s work on biodegradable neural implants for neural repair.
Each Lunch-and-Learn session includes presentations from MSE research groups and skill-building workshops on literature reviews, research planning, and communication.
