MSE’s Legendary Chariot Race Win: The Laundry Machine on Wheels

During Godiva Week, the discipline clubs at the university get together for a bit of fun, and one of the highlights is the Chariot Race. Each club builds a chariot, and the race takes place in Queen’s Park—where all the action unfolds.
This year, the Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) club went for a truly unexpected design: a laundry machine on wheels. It might’ve seemed like a quirky, unconventional choice, but as the race began, it quickly became clear that the MSE team wasn’t just there for laughs—they were in it to win it.
The laundry machine zoomed down the track, the crowd unsure whether to take it seriously. But MSE surprised everyone, crossing the finish line first and proving that creative ideas can win the race. The whole event was even broadcast live on the club’s Instagram page, so everyone got to witness the victory in real-time.
