Congratulations to Kyla Tan, a 4th-year undergraduate in Materials Science & Engineering, for receiving the Association for Iron and Steel Technology (AIST) Conference Grant to attend the Women in Steel Conference! The grant, which covers up to $600 USD, allowed Kyla to connect with industry professionals, collect business cards from leading companies, and participate in sessions on negotiation, leadership, and innovation in steelmaking.
Reflecting on the experience, Kyla said: “I had so much fun at the conference! I was able to network and get business cards from different companies. There was a session on negotiation, a speaker from a woman who pioneered a new steelmaking process, and even WNBA All-Star Tamika Catchings, who talked about leadership. It was such an inspiring and valuable experience!”
