BIO: After graduating from MSE (B.A.Sc., 2009, M.A.Sc, 2011), Bill Tang started his retail career as a Business Process Improvement Analyst with Sears Canada (2012-2013). Since 2013, he is working as a Process Improvement Analyst at The Home Depot.  In the last five years, Bill has worked in such capacities as Channel Management Analyst and Project Lead – Supply Chain Development.  In his current role a Sourcing Manager, Bill applies his B.A.Sc. and M.A.Sc. engineering skills to aid in improving The Home Depot’s retail evolution.

Abstract:What does it take to be a successful retailer in the current market?  Having the best products?  Provide consumers lowest price?  Sure, but is that enough?  The retail industry is evolving, it is no longer about just selling goods and services through stores to the general public.  In this talk, I will discuss the evolution in retail and how engineers are becoming critical partners in this industry.
