Irene Sterian (IndE 8T5) joins MSE to discuss her career as a successful engineering executive from when she graduated from U of T to her current roles. Irene has demonstrated vision and the ability to forge successful large-scale, cross-sector partnerships. Her work has resulted in unprecedented investments in Canadian electronics research and support for start-ups ranging from healthcare, energy, ICT and aerospace. Her leadership in technology and strategic partnerships are driven by a passion to close Canada’s commercialization gap and increase competitive advantage on the world stage.

The President & CEO of a not-for-profit tech organization, Refined Manufacturing Acceleration Process (ReMAP), Irene is the architect of a $25M+ Business-Led Networks of Centres of Excellence (BL-NCE).  She has formed an integrated ecosystem to accelerate the commercialization of Canadian innovations through shared resources, dozens of start-ups, small-medium enterprises, large organizations, and top-notch research institutions from across Canada.  Irene is also the Director of Technology and Innovation at Celestica Inc., a multinational electronics manufacturing services company.  Recently, Irene has been appointed the CTO of the Next Generation Manufacturing (NGM) Canada Supercluster, dedicated to building the next generation of manufacturing capabilities in Canada.
